Student Requirements For the Certificate IV in Christian Ministry
- Reading each week's teaching material and answering some questions about it
- Doing a brief weekly assigment (up to 400 words)
- Doing a daily Bible reading
- Satisfactory participation in the five day residential course.
- Completion of practical ministry work (Supervised Field Education) Whcih includes the following...
- Keeping a diary of church planting activities
- Preaching five sermons
- Writing an account of 3 pastoral care visits
- Writing an account of 3 counselling sessions
- Writing an account of 3 occasions when you share the gospel with someone
- An 800 word report on leading a home group for at least 4 sessions
- An 800 word report on a leadership project
Becoming an Accredited PastorIf you are being trained for ministry with a particular Christian denomination to whom you are accountable, then it will be up to them to accredit you as a Pastor. Note: A Certificate IV in Christian Ministry is generally considered to be the minimum qualification required of someone to be a Pastor in Australia. If you have been accepted for training by Rivergate Christian Community to whom you have chosen to make yourself accountable – becoming a Rivergate Pastor will require three things:
- Satisfactory completion of the Unity College Certificate IV in Christian Ministry delivered by Rivergate Christian Community.
- Satisfactory assessment by the leadership of Rivergate Christian Community
- The successful planting of a church
